Back on My Feet to raise $40K on Treadmills
Back on My Feet partners with Cigna, Blank Rome, Sweat Fitness, and The Shops at Liberty Place on Global Running Day
Philadelphia, PA – June 5, 2017– Back on My Feet, a national nonprofit organization operating in 12 major cities coast to coast and supported in part by the Cigna Foundation, invites the Philadelphia community to support the Cigna Back on My Feet Treadmill Challenge on Wednesday, June 7th (Global Running Day) at The Shops at Liberty Place. Back on My Feet combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. Over the course of eight hours, eight fundraising teams will run on treadmills to raise $40,000 for the Back on My Feet program.
“Back on My Feet is thrilled to have Cigna on board as title sponsor for our Philadelphia Treadmill Challenge as a part of our broader national partnership with them,” said Katy Sherratt, Back on My Feet CEO. “Not only are they generously supporting our local events but also helping to promote healthier lifestyles in our members through their Health & Wellness Curriculum.”
Dave Guilmette, Cigna President of the Global Employer Segment and Private Exchanges shared, “Cigna is proud to support Back on My Feet and sponsor this Treadmill Challenge. Helping people improve their health and well-being is something that’s very important to us at Cigna. And the wellness of Back on My Feet participants is key to helping them make meaningful changes in their lives.”
As another investment in health and well-being, Cigna also will have its Health Improvement Tour inside The Shops at Liberty Place, offering biometric screenings at no cost. The mobile unit will take people’s blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI) readings, the four core numbers that underlie most chronic disease and health costs.
Back on My Feet will partner with Cigna, Blank Rome, Sweat Fitness, and The Shops at Liberty Place on Global Running Day. Ten treadmills will be set up in The Shops at Liberty Place, where more than 100 individuals from eight corporate fundraising teams will join together to run, compete and raise funds for Back on My Feet.
Back on My Feet combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. Operating in 12 major cities coast-to-coast, Back on My Feet recruits members at homeless and residential facilities and begins with a commitment to run three days a week. The second phase of the program, Next Steps, provides educational support, job training programs, employment partnership referrals and housing resources. Since 2007, Back on My Feet has served more than 6,000 individuals experiencing homelessness and engaged more than 100,000 volunteers and supporters. Our members have run a collective 500,000 miles and obtained more than 4,500 jobs and homes.
