One Pool for Two Businesses

Tourists and triathletes can swim at this combination B&B/training facility.

"We have two different businesses," says Camille. "One is the bed and breakfast." Called Peyo et Foodie, it features four bedrooms in their 300-year-old stone home at the foot of the French Pyrenees.

"The second is training camps," she says, speaking on behalf of herself and husband Pierre (her English is stronger). "He's a personal trainer for triathlon and swimming." What both businesses have in common is a courtyard pool with an Endless Pools® Fastlane® Pro current system.

At this rustic B&B in southwestern France, the courtyard pool also serves for learn-to-swim classes and triathlon swimming coaching. Before adding the Endless Pools Fastlane Pro current system to this pool, Coach Pierre tried another swim-current system. The verdict: "The Endless Pools system is faster; it's better."

With one pool for tourist relaxation and competitive swim training, they've certainly maximized their investment. They also have one more new arrival: a baby daughter! Keeping all their business close to home gives them more time for work and family.

Swim Training in the B&B Pool

"Technical work," Camille notes, "it's better with the Endless Pools system for Pierre. Working with his athletes, he can correct the movements, and he can also make some videos." That's because swimming in place gives the coach the clearest view possible of every aspect of the swimmer's technique.

Swimming in place with the Endless Pools swim current also makes video recording significantly easier than when the swimmer is moving across a 25-meter pool. The swimmer can clearly see their stroke in playback for analysis and consultation with Pierre.

In an inspired cross promotion, Pierre offered the members of the Miramont Triathlon Club "an all-inclusive package that they really appreciated so that they could only worry about trainings." The triathletes swam, biked, ran, slept, and ate at their Peyo et Foodie bed-and-breakfast.

Besides his triathlon training camps, Pierre also conducts learn-to-swim classes for kids and adults. He tried the Endless Pools current, Camille recalls, "the first time in Kona during the IRONMAN® Championship in Hawaii." Closer to home, they had access to a competing brand's counter-current swim system. "We tried both," she observes, "and the Endless Pools system is faster; it's better."

Hosting Tourists in the Training Pool

Summer 2021 is the first season for Peyo et Foodie. The bed and breakfast in Escou, France, offers a rustic, old-world atmosphere combined with modern décor and, of course, modern Endless Pools technology in the courtyard pool.

The pool was constructed by Camille's father. It's 7 meters by 3 meters. The Fastlane Pro current system is designed to mount to either a pool's deck or wall to deliver our signature adjustable current. That gives their swimmers an uninterrupted swim experience that you can't get outside of open waters … much less in a 7-meter pool!

These 300-year-old stone walls surround a classic deck with a stacked-stone wall on one side of the pool. Under the pool cover, the Endless Pools Fastlane Pro current system adds modern technology to Pierre and Camille's combination B&B and swim coaching pool.

The Convenient Family Pool

With a new daughter at home, it's much easier for Pierre and Camille to keep their work close to home. "The nearest pool is 30 kilometers from where we live," she reports, "so it's better to have this at home to work. If you want to swim one hour, one hour and a half, you have to take three hours of your time. It's a lot!"

Their new b&b already seems to benefit from having a courtyard pool as a differentiator. If nothing else, they are already attracting group reservations for weekend triathlon training camps. "For us," Camille finds, "it's very, very good."
