Endless
Pools on the Air In February of 2003 Endless Pools
was featured on the syndicated home-improvement show Michael
Holigan's "Your New House." Based in Dallas,
TX, the show focuses on home building, remodeling and
new products to educate the do-it-yourselfer. Michael
Holigan's home improvements are watched by over 2 million
people every week.
The five-minute segment featured the installation
of a standard 8'x15' Endless Pool above-ground, in
one bay of a two-car garage. With a tight filming
schedule (3 consecutive days) and inexpensive finishing
materials, the installers erected a simple yet professional-looking
Endless Pool above-ground in an existing space. The
flexibility and simplicity of the Endless Pool modular
system was punctuated on the third day as the homeowner
swam in place as a thunderstorm passed overhead.
The Holigan Pool featured several options in addition
to the standard system, including aluminum coping, retractable
security cover and the current speed gauge. Specifically
the security cover was chosen to reduce heat loss and
control humidity
within the garage. The cover also enabled the owner
to secure the pool, a concern of this father of three.
He selected aluminum coping to provide a durable finish
and quick installation, important given the time constraints
of the project.
The sides of the swimming pool were covered with
rigid foam board for insulation and middle-grade plywood
skirting. The result was clean and attractive, and
demonstrated that you can spend very little to finish
the swimming pool of your dreams.
The
location for this installation was not atypical; over
75% of Endless Pool owners install their pool indoors
and 50% utilize an existing space. Why excavate when
you don't have to? As "Your New House" proved,
your Endless Pool installation can be as simple or elaborate
as you wish. With the Endless Pool, swimming and aquatic
exercise can truly be a year-round, cost-efficient possibility.
