Endless Pools is proud to be featured
on ABC's EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION, Sunday
April 11, 8/7c. The episode depicted a home renovation
in Ventura, CA, for Robert, a quadriplegic, whose family
specifically requested an Endless Pool to help him with
re-habilitation and exercise. Filmed over a frantic
one week period, over 100 contractors completely renovated
Robert's home, inside and out, installing an Endless
Pool, an elevator and other improvements to make Robert's
home more handi-capable.
Not only for swimming, Endless Pools are installed
in thousands of private homes and Physical Therapy
clinics, for physical rehabilitation, aquatic therapy
and exercise. Because of water's buoyancy and greater
resistance than air, people realize quicker results
without the impact associated with land based exercise.
Robert's pool featured several options in addition
to the standard system, including aluminum coping,
retractable security cover, the current speed gauge,
and a hydraulic lift. Specifically the security cover
was chosen to act as a horizontal fence enabling the
owner to secure the pool. He selected aluminum coping
to provide a durable finish and quick installation,
important given the time constraints of the project.
The sides of the swimming pool were covered with
rigid foam board for insulation and a Cedar skirting.
The result was clean and attractive, and showed that
you don't have to spend a lot to finish the swimming
pool of your dreams.
